Iñaki Arroyo Nebreda built the Subintervals app as a free app. The service is provided at no cost, with no ads and no required subscription.
This page explains how personal information is collected, used, and disclosed when you use Subintervals.
By using Subintervals, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. Personal information is used to provide and improve the service.
Developer and privacy contact: Subintervals is developed and operated by Iñaki Arroyo Nebreda. For privacy questions or requests, contact subintervals@inakiarroyo.com.
The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, which are accessible at Subintervals unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.
Data We Access and Collect
When you sign in, Subintervals accesses the Intervals.icu account data needed to provide the app, including your email address, athlete ID and name, profile, activities, workouts, calendar, wellness, fitness, and route data. Subintervals uses an OAuth access token to make these requests on your behalf. The token is stored in the device's secure credential storage and is not used for advertising.
When you use Record, Subintervals collects precise device location, including GPS coordinates and related time, altitude, speed, accuracy, and heading data. Location is used to calculate speed, distance, elevation, and routes, including while recording continues in the background with your permission. Recording data is stored locally until you export it or choose to upload the activity to Intervals.icu. Location is not collected for advertising.
When you connect supported Bluetooth sensors or trainers, Subintervals processes sensor data such as heart rate, speed, cadence, power, and trainer measurements to display and record your activity. This data is stored with the local recording and is uploaded to Intervals.icu only when you choose to upload the activity. If you submit a support report, you may also choose to send screenshots and app or recording diagnostics by email.
Information Collection and Use
Subintervals uses account identifiers, training and wellness information, device and app information, and usage-related technical data only to provide app functionality, synchronize with Intervals.icu, process support requests, maintain security, and improve reliability.
Starting with app version 1.10.1, email and athleteId may be processed to associate a voluntary donation or contribution with the corresponding user.
How Data Is Shared
Subintervals does not sell personal information. Data is shared only when needed to provide a feature, process a purchase or contribution, provide support, or operate and secure the service. Intervals.icu receives authenticated API requests and any activity files you choose to upload. Mapbox may process map requests and route coordinates when map features are used. RevenueCat and the relevant app store billing provider process purchase or contribution information; RevenueCat may receive your athlete ID and email to associate purchases with your account. ConfigCat may receive your athlete ID to evaluate feature flags. Sentry may receive diagnostic events and device or app information when error monitoring is enabled. Support emails and any attachments are sent to subintervals@inakiarroyo.com.
Third-Party Services
The app uses third-party services that may process information needed to deliver specific features:
- RevenueCat (in-app purchase/contribution infrastructure)
- Mapbox (map and geospatial services)
- Google Play Services
- Sentry (error monitoring and diagnostics)
Security
Subintervals uses HTTPS/TLS for network connections and stores OAuth credentials in the platform's secure storage where supported. Subintervals does not receive or store your Intervals.icu password. Local recordings and cached data remain on your device unless you export or upload them. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so you should keep your device and operating system protected.
Log Data
In case of app errors, log data may be collected through Sentry for monitoring and diagnostics. This may include IP address, device name, operating system version, app configuration, time/date of use, and other diagnostic statistics.
Data Retention
Subintervals is designed to access your Intervals.icu training data without maintaining a separate copy on Subintervals servers. Your workouts, activities, and profile information remain stored on Intervals.icu and are subject to Intervals.icu data retention practices.
The following limited information may be retained by Subintervals or its service providers:
- Device-local data: Authentication tokens and cached app data are stored on your device for as long as the app is installed. This data is removed when you uninstall the app or clear the app's storage.
- Contribution records: If you make a voluntary contribution, your email and athleteId may be retained to associate the contribution with your account and for purchase record-keeping. These records are retained for as long as necessary to fulfill the transaction and comply with legal obligations.
- Error and diagnostic logs (Sentry): When the app encounters errors, diagnostic data may be sent to Sentry and retained for up to 90 days for monitoring and troubleshooting purposes.
- Third-party services: RevenueCat, Mapbox, and Google Play Services may retain data according to their own privacy policies and retention schedules.
Data Deletion
Intervals.icu data: Subintervals does not create a separate user account. Because your Intervals.icu data is stored on Intervals.icu, managing or deleting that data (including activities, workouts, and account information) should be done through your Intervals.icu account settings or by contacting Intervals.icu directly.
Subintervals-specific data: To request deletion of data that Subintervals or its processors may hold about you (such as contribution records linked to your email and athleteId, or diagnostic logs associated with your usage), email subintervals@inakiarroyo.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request" and include:
- The email address associated with your Intervals.icu account (if applicable)
- Your Intervals.icu athleteId (if known)
- A brief description of what you would like deleted
We will verify your request and respond within 30 days. After processing, applicable data will be deleted from our systems, and we will instruct relevant third-party processors to delete associated data where feasible.
Local app data: To remove data stored on your device, uninstall the Subintervals app or clear its storage through your device settings.
Revoking access: You can disconnect Subintervals from your Intervals.icu account at any time by revoking the app's authorization in your Intervals.icu settings.
